The ingredients of getting an income from the Internet are basicly web sites with quality niche content, a proven sales letter which is able to convert visitors into buyers + targeted traffic (visitors having an interest related to the product or service you offer).

Another way is to focus on educating the visitor (informative web sites) with related affiliate links embedded into the pages and/or AdSense integrated. I try to find niche markets with low competition, instead of struggling with broad, high competition markets. When dealing with niche markets, the key is to gradually build several income streams on various themes. At the moment, i have websites built around the Internet Marketing theme, the stock market, ( http://oextradingresources.com ) and the currency market, which shows visitors how to get an income from currency trading, via a Free Forex Trader's Tips Newsletters. Another web site under development is http://freetips.ws which is focused on educating visitors on various themes and with Adsense & Affiliate links integrated.

One example of a niche keyword phrase for the stock market is "oex trading". In Google, the web site oextradingresources.com comes up with a #1 ranking as of this writing, July 2007. And to prove my techniques works for highly competitive keywords as well, the keyword OEX is within the Top 10 results among roughly 2 million competing pages. These keywords have been in the top results for years and steadily brings traffic to this site, new subscribers to the opt-in newsletter list and in turn... ebooks and services sales. Because there is less competition in niche markets, it's easier and less SEO work to keep a Top 10 position over the long term.

While it's easier to get high search engine rankings for niche markets, it also gives you less traffic. To compensate for this, i personally try to have several income sources, which in total could reach a decent extra income level. This will also spread the risk. If a particular niche market is going through some rough times, you would still be positioned in other markets, which continue to generate income.

To show one of several revenue sources, here is an exsample screenshot of Clickbank info product (ebooks) sales over a 8 day span (the name of buyers are blacked out to protect their privacy). And possibly make a full living from it, over the longer term. But to be honest with you, few things comes for free, it takes work to build your own income. At least, that's my own experience.
