Tips & Tools... Internet Marketing SEO

Below is the second installment, Internet Marketing SEO - which helps drive traffic to your web site. Also, get tips on how to build an income from the Internet.

Yesterday, i mentioned that good sources for targeted traffic are:

  • Free Search Engine Listings
  • PPC (pay per click) Search Engines
  • Article Directories
  • Viral Ebooks & Reports

    The Major Free SE:

    Google - http://google.com
    Yahoo! - http://yahoo.com

According to Wordtracker nearly 80% of all searches done in the world, comes through these big search engines. So naturally, getting a good ranking there could boost your web site traffic and sales.

Now in July 2007, getting a good ranking in Google simply boils down to just three things, in my opinion:

    1. Your keywords in the Title of your web page.
    2. Your keywords in the Header & Body of your web page.
    3. Your Keywords in the Anchor Text of lots of links pointing to your web site, but with variations in the anchor text (important).

Make a catchy page title with your keywords positioned first, to increase the odds of actually getting a click on your link, in the SE results.

    Example:

Internet Marketing - Get Free Tips, Articles and a 5 Day Ecourse!

Have the keywords a few times in the page body as well.

So taking the 3 simple things above into account, why the modest keyword optimization of the web page?

Here is an interesting and eye opening fact:

I typed the keyword "click here" (with the "" included) into Google and Adobe came up as # 1 among the huge 1,350,000,000 competing pages. I checked this Adobe page and i couldn't find the word "click here" at all!

This proves that the number of incoming links to this page, is the major factor of ranking well and probably with the phrase "click here" in the anchor text of the links pointing to this site. Think about it, if/when you downloaded the popular Adobe (.pdf) Reader, this phrase is actually widely used.

In the niche marketing perspective then, the number of needed links pointing to your site would be far less to rank well, because of the greatly reduced competition within such markets. So one just has to keep on building links until top ranking is achieved.

However, these days Google gives less ranking weight to the good old link exchange between web sites but more so in the number of links pointing to your site, without your site linking back to them. So how can this be solved?

Well, personally i've just started using Jonathan Leger's 3 way link building service which has proved to work well, according to the testimonials on the site. And they focus on giving what the search engines want, quality content and more, as every web site is checked by a human editor, before approval. I'll try send you a future update, to share with you how it has worked for me.

To get your link up at so called Authority Sites, is another way to go. Authority sites are called so because they usually have many pages and high PR (Google's Page Rank system).

To quote Google's Matt Cutts: ..."Thematic incoming links from Authority Sites carry more weight than on the page optimization."...

Examples of authority sites are article directories, social bookmarking sites and Squidoo.com etc. To find more resources on this matter, do an exact Google search for "authority sites".

So how do we get links from such prominent sites?

Well, i.e. by using your own content. That is, own articles, content and news releases, to establish links from the best Authority Sites in your niche. Simply write 300 - 500 word articles for your niche, optimized with your keywords and with a Resource Box at the end of every article, containing links back to your web site and with your keywords in the anchor text of the links. Important, make variations of the keywords used in the anchor text.

Write one article per week and use Dr. Noel's excellent Article Submission site and you are on your way to gradually get traffic from Article Directories, SE and links from Authority Sites as well. Dr. Noel takes you through each step of the process of creating and sending out a new article.

Well, this was the Internet Marketing SEO part of the course, in the next installment, PPC Search Engines will be covered. If you are not already signed up to this Free 5 Day Email Course, subscribe below to get it in full.
